A new initiative has been announced to train 12,000 workers in the construction industry. The program seeks to address critical shortages in skilled trades across the sector.
Under the plan:
Funding will support additional construction courses at technical colleges.
Employers will be incentivised to hire and retain trainees.
Partnerships between construction firms and colleges will increase access to work-based placement opportunities.
A dedicated task force will oversee strategy and implementation in collaboration with industry leaders.
The aim is to strengthen the workforce and ensure the construction sector has the skilled labour needed to meet increasing housing and infrastructure demand.
